Our Team

Dr. Norfazrin Mohd Hanif
Norfazrin Mohd Hanif is a senior lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), holding Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry from UKM and a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. Specializing in atmospheric chemistry, she explores tropospheric ozone-depleting substances' abundances, emissions, and transport on regional and global scales and investigating the impacts of natural and anthropogenic trace gas emissions on air quality and global climate. Her current research focuses on atmospheric microplastics. She is also passionate about various aspects of atmospheric science and its integration with environmental, health, policy, and socio-economic aspects.

Dr. Norfilza Mohd Mokhtar
Norfilza Mohd Mokhtar is currently Professor of Genome Medicine at the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She is the Head of GUT Research Group, which was recently designated as a ‘Research University Group’. She is the Malaysian Microplastics & Health Consortium’s Assistant Chair, an Adjunct Professor at Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain and Visiting Professor at Management & Science University, Malaysia. She is also the medical advisor for Cotra Sdn Bhd. Her research interest is related to omics technology related to gastrointestinal diseases and the effects of environment on GUT health.

Dr. Sharifah Nabihah Jaafar
Sharifah Nabihah Jaafar is currently an associate professor at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She is an internationally well-known researcher in the area of renewable materials, polymers, and biorefinery. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from UKM and a doctor of philosophy from the University of Natural Resources and Life Science (BOKU) Austria. She was honored with the Young Woman in Science Award (Materials Science), a part of the Venus International Women Awards given by the Venus International Foundation (2017) and an Australian-APEC Women Research fellowship (2018). She is also active in administration and community services. Her current focus is to utilize cellulose and carbon waste into microspheres and other high-value materials.

Dr. Yusuke Fujii
Yusuke Fujii is an associate professor at Osaka Metropolitan University in Japan. His research mainly focuses on chemical characteristics of aerosols derived from biomass burning and those impacts on atmospheric environment in local and regional scale. In 2018, he was selected as a member of the Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Researchers (LEADER) project in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan.

Dr. Do Thi Thuy Quyen
Dr. Do Thi Thuy Quyen graduated from Cooperative Major in Human Centered Engineer, Ochanomizu University, Tokyo, Japan. Currently, she is working as a Lecturer and Researcher at Faculty of Environment, VNU-HCMUS, Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. Her research interest focusses on the topic of emerging pollutants in water environment including organic compounds and microplastic. The aim is to address the pollution pathway and propose solutions for urban sanitation management.

Dr. Saisiri Chaichana
Saisiri Chaichana, Ph.D., is a lecturer at Songkhla Rajabhat University (SKRU), Thailand. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in polymer science and environmental management from Thailand's Prince of Songkla University (PSU). She has skilled research in marine biogeochemistry with a doctor of philosophy in environmental sciences from the University of East Anglia (UEA), UK. Her current research has mostly focused on the following topics: microplastics and organic matter in marine and coastal environment, marine debris, and waste management.

Dr. Siriporn Borrirukwisitsak
Siriporn Borrirukwisitsak (Ph.D.) is a lecturer at Department of Environmental Science, Faculty of Science, Silpakorn University - Sanam Chandra Palace Campus, Thailand. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Silpakorn University and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Strathclyde University, UK. Her works have focused on microplastics in the coastal environment, waste characterization and management, fate and transport of pollutants, and circular economy.
